Councilwoman Bea Cortes was first elected to City Council in 2002.  The importance of serving others and the community is rooted in her upbringing and has always been reflected in her personal and professional life.  She has lived in Grand Terrace since 1972. 

Since 2003, Ms. Cortes has represented the City of Grand Terrace on the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) Board of Directors. SANBAG is the council of governments and transportation planning agency serving over two million residents within San Bernardino County. In June 2010, Ms. Cortes was elected to serve as Vice President of SANBAG and Chair of the SANBAG Administrative Committee. She also serves as a member of the SANBAG Major Projects Committee, Commuter Rail and Transit Committee, and the Plans and Programs Committee. Bea Cortes was also selected to represent SANBAG on the Community, Economic, and Human Development Committee of the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), which is the nation’s largest metropolitan planning organization, representing six counties, 189 cities, and more than 19 million residents. SCAG undertakes a variety of planning and policy initiates to encourage a more sustainable Southern California now and in the future.
